We knew they were a desperate team and that they'd come after us. They started feeding off their crowd and seemed to be scoring every time down the floor. We sort of lost our patience for a few minutes.
We were in a good rhythm. We were making 3s and getting baskets in transition. The only thing was that we couldn't stop them.
Most teams play seven or eight guys. We push the tempo and try to get them in foul trouble. And then that creates a problem where guys are not used to playing in a certain kind of environment.
Obviously that's a game I'm going to watch because I did make some defensive mistakes on him.
One thing about their team people may have underestimated is that they're playing extremely hard. I think that that's been a big part of their success.
If anything, that game gave us a better understanding of things that you have to do against teams such as themselves.
I even saw him post up a few times. And everybody knows he can shoot the 3-ball.
We've been winning, losing, winning, losing. We've got to string wins together.
He's a great player. I believe he practiced those. You have to.
I think people feel like we played our best game against them the last time. Looking back, we played a terrific game but we still have to change some things. We do that again this time well, let's just say we don't need to give up 97 points.
That's what he does. You get the guy open looks and he'll knock 'em down. He shot the ball extremely well and shot it with confidence and that's what we expect from him.
That's the way it is, sometimes. You get beat by great players.
We can't say we didn't have our opportunities.
We had to get over the disappointment. We didn't want to let ourselves down. We want to play as much basketball as possible.
We saw this as an opportunity. We wanted to do this for the fans. We knew they still had our back and they were totally supporting us.
Everything they do is based off Singletary. They run him through screen after screen after screen. He's going to get his; you just want him to work for them as hard as possible.
It would be a shame for them not to select us as one of the teams. They always say it's the body of work, that it's three months and not just one game.
It was ugly, but I'm just glad we won. That (style of game) really doesn't surprise me, because since I've been here -- when we play Clemson -- that's the way the game is.
It's a play we practice every day and I swear that was the first time I've thrown that lob (pass) that perfect.
I tried to keep them on their heels by attacking and getting into the paint. I just tried to be aggressive.
Doing well in this tournament can do a lot of things to prepare us for the NCAA. It could solidify our bid and give us a higher seed. At the same time, we've got one game to worry about right now.
The biggest difference is that guys are getting along so well off the court. There's a bond and a trust between us that wasn't fully there last year.
No matter what (opponents) do, he finds a way. He's a very active player and he can score in so many different ways.
It was one of those games that I've sort of been waiting for; a good game like that. It's something I've always been very capable of doing. Maybe I was a little more assertive, a little more aggressive, because that's what the game called for and that's what I needed to do.
That's a situation where you've got to execute. I felt like we got some good looks and got some good opportunities.
