What we came to realize is the best way to protect the Bay is to keep a farmer farming. We'd much rather have a farm operating than having a suburban development go in.
To fund this for one year is not going to help farmers, and it's not going to help the bay.
We need a much more supportive infrastructure for farming.
Without a doubt, the Bay Foundation has embraced the fact that we need to support farmers.
The bay's health remains dangerously out of balance and is stagnant.
The Bay region is losing farmland and farms at a rapid rate. There's not the resources to sustain this industry.
They are good for the bay if they are operated correctly. In fact, they far better than development.
