My first three camps I never had a goal. Sometimes, you get nights where pucks sort of follow you around and everything you shoot goes in the net. I am not complaining. I am proud I had a decent start to the camp and hopefully I am making an impression.
My experience, so far, since I've been here, is that it's tough to know which team will show up. In the third period, we proved that we're not a bad hockey team. We're a great team, when we come to play.
We battled. We played better (Sunday) than we had in previous games in this building. They're playing the spoilers, and that's their motivation to beat any team trying to get in the playoffs.
We worked all year to get home-ice advantage and now that's not the case. We've lost it now. I've always thought Game 1 is one of the most important games of a series. It determines who takes control, who's in the driver's seat.
We have to find a way to turn that around. We keep saying it's early in the season. It's going to be too late. We have to turn it around.
You feel good at the start of practice, but after those second- and third-line rushes down and back, you start to really feel it.
It's a lot like last year, where everyone got along and we had good camaraderie and I think that's what's developing here. It may be a little late, but it's starting to feel like a real family now.
The goal will be to play as hard as I can whenever I get out there. Playing well these two games will be beneficial.
