I was so emotionally distraught. I missed my father. Those first couple days were really hard.

He had a green thumb. He loved to water the plants and cut the flowers. He was so proud of how his trees looked.

He never expressed anything to me about pain.

That was the first time he told me he loved me and he was proud of me. He wasn't a very emotional man, so him doing that really meant a lot.

As for me, I'm single, and it hurts me 'cause he's not here and he won't be able to see his grandchildren grow up. He was always proud of his three sons finishing college, growing up and providing for themselves.
