Ray Allen has been fully punished, more than if he'd been executed in a quick and efficient way. It's just a kind of torture to do it like this.
Not to be personally heard adds to our concern about the fairness of the whole process. Where a person's life is at stake, there ought to be some minimum elements of due process.
This is just gratuitous punishment. But this denial is consistent with the governor's practice of denying clemency no matter what the facts of the case are.
