But I'm not looking forward to trying to strike out a lot of guys
College baseball, I love it. I love to work with the younger kids who are trying to live out their dreams, if in fact that's what they plan on doing after college to take the next step.
The process was long and hard on me. When everybody was out having a good time, I'm running trying to get my body ready.
Some of the biggest cheers after the game were for our USC guys when they beat Notre Dame, ... That's the way this team is. I'm in there trying to shake hands, and they don't even know I'm there. The eyes are all glued to the TV.
Some of my will is gone, ... But not all of it. You just look at things differently. Every time I hear the anthem, I think about her. I think about seeing her face for the last time and that's where I'm trying to draw my strength from.
I was trying to find some rhythm after my last start, throwing my last two innings with just my arm, ... This time around I was trying to get the mechanics down and get good pitches, and I wasn't able to do it.
I was trying to stay extremely tall and violent on the mound so my stuff was moving well. Leg feels fine, just emptying the tank.
You have to be mistake-free, so I was trying to be as stingy as possible.
I've been trying to shut it down for two years and I still can't answer that now, ... I'm glad I left that percentage point open.
I'm not even going to mention that word. I've been trying to do that for a couple of years now and it's not working.
I'm trying to continue to keep that fire in my belly. It's games like this that can just rekindle that.
I hope my energy level will be high. If not, I'll try and find other ways as far as drawing off the crowd or certain situations, trying to get my energy where it needs to be,
I ponder to myself, this could be my last couple of starts or your last one. I'm trying to get everybody in here that wants to be a part of this and really share it with everyone. I never want to look back.
That's when I use the word frustrating, when your body breaks down or your body doesn't do the things I'm asking it to do at my age, because I'm trying to keep up with the Joneses.
