I'd like to get the best people as soon as possible. This is about this team and these players, making sure they have the best opportunity to be successful.
If a player wants to be the man, this might not be the place for him. It's very competitive here; that's one thing the NFL people like so much, ... You tend to reach your potential here more often than in other places, no doubt about it.
I think we did have a little edge, ... We took it a little personal. I don't think people gave us much of a chance to win.
This year we don't have as many high-profile guys, ... but there's some really good players here that, because they're coming out of this program, NFL people will take a very hard look at and maybe draft, where at another program maybe they wouldn't get drafted.
We are certainly pleased. When you are around very special people, you like to keep those people around the players and the programs. Coach Cristobal is one of those.
Our expectations are high, but overall people may look at us as an underdog this year. I don't mind it at all. If that's the case, it will cause us to play with a little bit of an attitude, and that's OK, too.
Talent wise, I don't have any complaints about that. I think our talent level is good. If we lose a game, it won't be because of talent. We're not going away, people know that.
I don't want to overstate the importance of our football program to the city, but South Florida's important to us and I think we're a big part of South Florida. I hope people can enjoy just a little break from the monotony of all the terrible things that have happened.
You can't stay the same. You stay the same and people catch up. They understand your schemes and they game plan for those things and it makes it very difficult. We have good players, but we also have to give those players advantages with proper match-ups.
