Three strong advertising associations, a leading email association and two consumer advocacy/online privacy organizations coming together is a rare and powerful coalition. The fact that we have come together so strongly is testament to the gravity of our concerns about this Act.

I think it's fair to say that, even in the absence of legislation, we've had widespread adoption of privacy practices and policies. The private sector generally has an incentive to do things in a good way.
